How to Annoy an 8-Year-Old

Having a little fun today…one of the great rewards of parenting is being ever so slightly irritating. Heh. Or maybe that’s just my twisted sense of humor.

1. When they go into a bathroom shout, “Hit the water!!!”
2. Let their older siblings stay home while they have to accompany you to the store
3. Make them do their chores
4. Insist they wear clean clothes
5. Make them eat their vegetables
6. Stick to a regular bedtime
7. Suggest they mind their manners.

What would you add to the list?

Fun For Your Friday: Pigeon Impossible

Welcome to Friday, Internets! Are you having fun yet? We’re actually having a reasonable day here…2 boys are visiting grandparents and it’s amazing how much easier life is when you’re only dealing with one age group.

Anyhow. Hubby’s brother-in-law sent a link to a hilarious YouTube video yesterday and I just know you’ll enjoy it. This is definitely safe for work, as long as your boss doesn’t mind you spending 6 and a half minutes giggling. This is also very kid friendly. Enjoy!

Fun For Your Friday

Happy Friday Internets! Here at Earnest Parenting we’re entering the gloomy season weather-wise. It’s quite common to not see much sunshine for days or even weeks at a time in January and February. Bleh. Not my favorite. The cloud cover is thick as I type, which promises a dull day already.

All the more important to smile then, don’t you think?

For today’s FFYF I bring you a happy memory from the summer of 2009. When we had the chickens last year, one of the fun activities was to give them treats and watch them run around stealing from each other. That’s right, Internets. Today I bring you 3 minutes and 30 seconds of pure unadulterated silliness: chickens eating marshmallows.

Fun For Your Friday

Sorry I’m a little late getting this one posted, but better late than never! Here’s my giggle for the day. This morning Keely (the puppy) was up at 5:30 with diarrhea, poor baby. And poor TechnoBoy and me, who were the lucky pair cleaning it up. After he’d taken her out, he let her snuggle with The Mercenary and we all went back to bed. A couple of hours later she brought herself down to my room and woke me up to go out again. More diarrhea. At least this one made it outside. I brought her back in and cleaned her up, then took her down to snuggle some more. All the boys were still sleeping, so I decided to luxuriate in bed a while longer.

Half an hour later the phone rang and when I was done talking I thought I’d go wake everyone up. I walked into the older boys’ room and a little brown head popped up to look at me. Then I heard “rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr”. Lol. Translation: I know why you’re here and what you’re planning. Don’t even think about it.

She earned them all another half hour of sleep.

I’m happy to inform you that my puppy is a very environmentally conscious individual. Really. She is! Just look for yourself.
