Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

I learned about a new product this week, Heroes. Specifically: Yummi Pouch. Here’s what they look like.
yummi pouches
Yummi Pouch comes in some different sizes, holding anywhere from 2.5 ounces with the mini to the sport pouch that can hold 10. They’re dishwasher and freezer safe, BPA and Phthlate free, recyclable and fully CPSP compliant.

I was a little concerned about how to fill them when I first opened the box. Then I discovered that all pouches come with an easy-to-use zipper opening at the top (except for the Mini, which has the opening at the bottom). That was a relief! Both the 6 and 10-ounce size have an expanding bottom gusset, so you can stand them up for filling through the zipper opening.

If you pack lunches for kids, you can send along soups, purees, any kind of smoothie or juiced beverage. Pretty much anything that you might make in a blender would work beautifully in the Yummi Pouch system. Also? Consider an easy way to take condiments along on a picnic. You can dispense ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and even jelly right from the pouch. Anyone who’s had to drag along heavy condiment containers just to use a few tablespoons of them would appreciate the ease and convenience of the pouch system.

Now kids can eat healthy foods from home with no fear of spilling. All they do is open the spout to eat. Once they’re done, the pouch is extremely lightweight and easy to carry back home to be washed and re-used. To clean them, simply expand the bottom gusset and wash with water and bottle brush. Or you can stand them upside down on the top rack of the dishwasher.

I was most interested in the Sports Pouch since the boys are older. With 3 that play soccer and one that runs track, an even larger pouch might be handy. But it was nice to fill up the 10-oz. sports pouch and put it in the freezer. Granted, it’s December and super cold outside, but I can imagine TechnoBoy appreciating it next month when indoor soccer gets underway again.

The mini pouches could also be so very handy for parents of toddlers. How great is it to be able to make up healthy food and then let your toddler feed him- or herself with a pouch? Pretty great, if you ask me. There’s still potential for mess here: imagine for a moment the joy of just squeezing all of the food out onto the floor. I wouldn’t recommend letting them eat without a little supervision. However, the need for independence can be fulfilled, while your need for healthy and easy to use foods can also be met. Win/win!

If you want to learn more about Yummi Pouch, you can go to their main site. Pouches can be purchased at the Yummi Store. (All products are backed by a 30-day guarantee.) They can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.
