One of the neat things we got to do over the recent holiday was taste test all four of Mrs. Smith’s Signature Deep Dish pies. You know. Eating pies. It was for science!
The neat thing about these pies is that instead of just baking them from frozen, you have the ability to personalize them. Each flavor came with a topping that could be added to make the pie even tastier. We chose to serve each person their slice and then add topping on a per plate basis. This allowed for The Manager (my picky “don’t let food touch” kinda guy) to skip the addition altogether, while Captain Earthquake (my sweet-tooth boy) could scrape every last molecule of sweetness off his plate. I think he even licked one or two clean when he thought no one was watching.
There are 4 Mrs. Smith’s Deep Dish Signature Pie flavors: Dutch Apple Pie with Caramel Sauce, Cherry Pie with Butter Fudge Sauce, Peach Pie with Cream Cheese Icing, and Pumpkin Pie with Cream Cheese Icing. We had a lot of pie to eat, let me tell you. Even with 6 people in the family, each pie had extra left over. Not for long though. All of them were gone by the next day.
We had the pumpkin pie first, and it was my least favorite because the spices were stronger than I prefer. That didn’t stop me from enjoying it though! If you like a lot of pumpkin pie spice, then this one is for you. I liked the cherry pie the best, probably because I love chocolate flavor with berries, and these two tastes blended together beautifully.
In addition to generously letting us try their four pies, the Mrs. Smith’s company is letting me give away a coupon for one of their Deep Dish pies and a $50 Williams-Sonoma gift card! How cool is that?
