Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

(Editor’s note: please welcome Jack with suggestions for making baby’s room safe and conducive to sleeping. Thanks, Jack!)

A new born baby is one of life’s true precious gifts. New parents never get bored of showing off the latest addition to the family; however it isn’t all plain sailing in the preceding months. There is an endless list of tasks that need ticking off before you welcome your new bundle of joy into the world – none more-so than preparing their sleeping quarters.

The amount of little things you take for granted becomes apparent when preparing for a new child. The list really is endless. One such thing is the window treatments in the baby’s bedroom. The usual dilemma is a choice between curtains and blinds, and there are a number of reasons why roller blinds would be the more practical option.

As children get used to their new surroundings, they are prone to embarking on their own little adventures. Whilst this is encouraging and shows a keen sense of mobility, it is also a potentially hazardous time if material risks aren’t eliminated. For example, if curtains and drapes aren’t hung out of reach, a child could potentially get tangled up in them and cause harm to themselves. Roller blinds on the other hand, come without this loose material and are mostly available with cordless mechanisms, preventing the threat to the child and also the temptation to fiddle with them.

However, the advantages of these blinds aren’t simply restricted to safety but comfort as well. Lots of early nights will be required to ensure your new born child develops a healthy sleeping pattern; however any parent will tell you that this is much easier said than done – especially on those long summer days. Roller blinds allow all forms of light to be totally blocked out of a room and cause a total blackout. This ensures that even on a light summer’s evening; it’s as dark as the night in the baby’s room.

Another important factor in ensuring your child gets a solid night’s sleep is the heat. Roller blinds make sure that any adverse weather conditions outside don’t affect the room, as they provide a perfect layer of insulation. This means that whether it’s warm or cold outside, these elements won’t affect the temperature of the room.
It’s all very well having these useful blinds, but it must be said that if they don’t look good then what is the point in having them? Luckily, this is not the case here. Due to their simplistic style, these blinds look well in almost any setting and can be customised in a wide range of colours and patterns. As a child grows up, their taste is likely to change on a regular basis. Again, this can be easily accommodated with roller blinds because of the selection available.

The final point worth making is the cost. Bringing a baby into the world is an extremely costly time of anyone’s life and the last thing they want to be throwing too much money at is window treatments. Thankfully, as well as providing the parents with ultimate control over a number of elements, roller blinds are extremely reasonably priced and are an affordable option for any new parent.
