Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

If there’s anyone who has difficulty getting along with his brothers lately, it’s Captain Earthquake. As a young man possessed of rather a strong temper, maintaining his cool can be tricky. And once he’s a little mad….well, things usually progress from there.

Both his twin and his older brothers have often succumbed to the temptation to push his buttons. I’m frequently left feeling like my biggest job in life is to keep a bucket of water handy to throw on whatever fire has just been started.

One day, the Captain was particularly irritated at an older brother and I found myself looking deeply into his eyes as we had yet another calming talk. We talked about what had just happened, and how important forgiveness is. I threw in a pep talk about kindness and cooperation for good effect. For some reason, I ended the conversation with a line about family and brotherhood and getting along with each other and then asked a question along the lines of “He’s your brother, what else can I do?”

The immediate and unhesitating response?

“Send him to public school.”

And no, I didn’t see that one coming.

That one’s been worth a couple of giggles since he said it. Want some more chuckles? Read on, friends! Today is Friday, which means that we’re once again hosting the blog carnival Fun For Your Friday. If you like any of the posts (or this one here) please take a moment and share it with someone. When you send out a tweet, post to Facebook, or bookmark on one of the many services (StumbleUpon, Del.ici.ous, Ping.FM, etc.) you’re helping the author of that article gain a little prestige and ranking.
