Encouraging Heroes. You can be one too.

I’ve been feeling weighted down quite a bit lately, Internets. I’ve all sorts of things to tell you and thoughts to share, but I look at the latest headlines and get distracted and start reading and then I get a bit stressed. Anyone else feeling that way? ‘Cause phew! It’s crazy out there.

This isn’t good. Not for me, not for Hubby, and not for the boys. So. What to do?

For starters I’m spending more time in prayer, reflection, and reading the Bible. I find great comfort in that. Also? Going to go to bed earlier. I am. Really. I have to stop with the late night schedules and not getting enough sleep. Hopefully I’ve tired myself out enough that I can actually fall asleep. 🙂 Wish me luck.

I can’t do much about all the bad news going on in the world, or stop the headlines from screaming that the world is coming to an end. But I can limit how much I look at all that, and try to work on creating a more peaceful environment here on the homestead.

It may seem silly, but I got my files organized over the past two weeks and even found 4 big bags of paperwork to get rid of. So I burned it. Did you know that burning up old papers can feel good? It does. Especially the “now I have a cleaner file cabinet” part.

I also wrote out a list of things that need to be done so I can do them and cross them off. Again, probably not normal, but list-crossing-off makes me happy.

There’ve been a few areas of stress with the boys but I tried out some solutions and had results. I’ll tell you about that soon. For now, I’m going to watch the rest of Dog Whisperer (looooove that show) and I’m going to bed.

Really. And I’ll fall asleep too.
