My main point is to stuff them full of skills and knowledge and ideas so they can go off and do something with it. What I've told the boys is that they need to take lessons for at least two years, and then can quit or choose another instrument. I'd strongly prefer they play piano for more like 4 years, but 2 is my absolute minimum. We'll evaluate as they go. Do you play the piano? Air Jordans, I try.
